Subject Directories: catalogs of websites collected, organized, and maintained by humans; they are arranged in hierarchies which organizes information into larger then smaller subcategories by topic. Subject directories are a great place to start when you don't know much about a topic!

Search Engines: large broad databases of indexed information searched by keywords; created by automated programs (robots or spiders). Search engines are huge! They are a good place to search when you already know something about your topic or have specific keywords to search. Remember spelling must be exact!
