Kindergarten

Abington Public Schools offers two developmentally appropriate kindergarten programs designed specifically for children five years of age. A child who is five years old on or before August 31 of a school year is eligible for kindergarten.

Half-Day Kindergarten

The half-day program is held 5 days per week for 2.5 hours and is free to students of Abington.  Placement in the AM or PM session is dependent upon where the child lives in town. In order to maintain balanced classrooms, the school is unable to make honor requests for changes in AM or PM placements.

Full-Day Kindergarten

The full-day program is tuition-based and is held 5 days per week from 8:15 AM – 2:20 PM. Admission to the full-day program requires a deposit and submission of an application. Full-day kindergarten affords children opportunities to learn and practice newly-introduced material during longer blocks of time, which reinforces comprehension and retention of these foundational skills.
