New Director of Curriculum - Dr. Christopher Basta

I am pleased to announce that Dr. Christopher Basta has accepted the position of Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment for the Abington Public Schools. Dr. Basta earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology and Anthropology from Fairfield University in Fairfield, Connecticut. He continued his education at Sacred Heart University where he earned a Master of Arts Degree in Elementary Education and a Minor in Educational Leadership. He recently completed the Doctor of Education Program majoring in Educational Leadership at the University of New England. Dr. Basta was the Principal of the Beaver Brook Elementary School, a position he started in July 2019. Prior to coming to Abington, he was the Assistant Principal at the Redding Elementary School, a pre-school through grades 4 school in Redding, Connecticut.            
Dr. Basta will begin in this new role effective immediately. However, he will also be assisting in the transition of leadership and opening of school process at the Beaver Brook Elementary School to ensure the best possible outcomes for our students, faculty and staff.  
Lastly, I want to again thank our screening committee members, Felicia Moschella, Ph.D. (Chairperson), Jonathan Bourn, Meg Doherty, Elizabeth Gonsalves, Ph.D., Vicki Graham, Wendy Happel, Jessica Sullivan, James Robbins, Ed.D., and Annie Robinson for all of their assistance with the selection process.
