WELCOME
Welcome to the Abington Early Education Program, where young children of all abilities learn, play and grow together in a nurturing, inclusive environment. Our program provides developmentally appropriate experiences that foster independence, curiosity, social emotional growth, and a love of learning for all children.
We believe every child deserves opportunities to learn alongside their peers in their community school. Through meaningful play, intentional instruction and supportive relationships children build independence, communication skills, problem-solving abilities and positive social interactions. Given inclusive practices, children develop confidence, empathy, and friendships while learning essential school readiness skills.
AEEP serves the youngest students of Abington with multi-aged classrooms for children ages 3-5 years. Highly qualified teachers and related service providers work collaboratively to create meaningful learning experiences tailored to individual children's developmental needs. Instruction is individualized through ongoing observation and assessment to ensure each child is appropriately supported and challenged.

CURRICULUM
Our curriculum is play-based and aligned with the Massachusetts Guidelines for Preschool Learning Experiences. Learning opportunities are intentionally designed to encourage exploration, creativity, and problem-solving throughout the preschool session. Instruction occurs in a variety of settings including large and small groups, learning centers, outdoor exploration, and purposeful play. Children participate in engaging, hands-on activities designed to promote growth across developmental areas including:
Early literacy and language development
Mathematics and problem solving
Science exploration
Social-emotional development
Gross and fine motor skills
Communication
Activities of daily living
Classrooms follow a thematic curriculum that incorporates Learning Without Tears, Heggerty, Lively Letters and SecondStep.
FAMILY CONNECTION
Families are an essential part of every child's educational journey. At AEEP we believe that strong home-school partnerships support children's success. We value open communication and work closely with parents and caregivers throughout the school year. Families can expect consistent communication including classroom and program newsletters, family engagement events, parent-teacher conferences and district-wide communication throughout the school year.

What is the schedule for the program?
AEEP follows the Abington Public Schools calendar. The morning sessions meets 8:20 -10:55am and the afternoon session meets 11:35am – 2:10pm.
When does registration occur?
Registration for community peers takes place during February for the following school year.
What is the cost for a child to attend the program as a community peer?

What if I have concerns about my child’s development?
If your child is currently enrolled in our preschool program, we encourage you to start by speaking with your child's teacher. Your teacher can discuss your concerns, share observations, and work with you to determine if additional supports or a referral for further evaluation may be appropriate.
If your child is not currently enrolled in our program and you have concerns about their development, please contact our Preschool Office. We can provide information about the preschool screening and the special education evaluation process and help guide you through the next steps.
