Did You Know?
As Halloween is approaching, we know that students are excited! At BBES, we do not celebrate Halloween but focus on fun, Fall activities. We ask that students leave their costumes safely at home. Instead, we will be celebrating our Booster success with a schoolwide pajama day on Friday, 10/31!
Title I Family Night
All BBES Families are invited to Title I Family night Tuesday, October 28th, from 5:00–6:00 PM in the BBES Cafeteria!
Join us for a fun and informative evening! Learn how Title I supports our students’ learning, explore hands-on activities, and take-home ideas to help your child grow at home.
Fire Safety (SAFE Program)
Over the next couple of weeks, members of the Abington Fire Department will be joining our Kindergarten Health classes to teach a lesson about fire safety. In addition to learning some age appropriate fire safety tips that they can share with their families, the firefighters will also show the students what they look like when they arrive at a fire in all of their gear to help alleviate fears that some children may have. Students typically get a chance to sit in the fire truck when the firefighters visit. The SAFE (fire safety) lesson for First and Second Grade is scheduled for the spring.
From the Nurse's Office
Screenings will begin at Beaver Brook starting in November and will continue throughout the school year.
Each school year School Nurses in the Abington Public Schools conduct selected health screenings as mandated by the MA Department of Public Health. Here at Beaver Brook Elementary all students in Grades K-2 participate in Vision and Hearing Screening. Grade 1 students will participate in height, weight and BMI as well.
Screenings will be done under the direction and supervision of the School Nurse. You will be notified by the School Health Office in cases where further screening/examination by your health care provider is indicated. We ask that you always have your child’s eyeglasses available as they will be using them in the screening process.
All Parents and Guardians have the right to opt their child out of any of the screenings by submitting a written request (email is acceptable) to the school nurse.
You may contact Renee Brown, school nurse, if you have any additional questions at reneebrown@abingtonps.org.
Picture Day is Coming!
Picture Day at BBES is on October 29th. Be on the lookout for information regarding ordering picture packages. We are looking forward to seeing all of the smiles!
Student Information Update
As you may know, Abington Public Schools uses Aspen as our student information management system. It is critical for families to update their students’ basic information (address, phone, emergency contact, etc.) when changes occur.
