BBES Helping Hands
The BBES PTO hosts Helping Hands events at BBES where students can do something to benefit others. This month, the PTO planned an event for registered students to make placemats for the Abington Senior Center Thanksgiving luncheon!

Recess is Chilly!
It’s that time of year when the temperatures start to drop. The playground also tends to get a cross breeze making it a bit colder. Please ensure your child has warm clothing for recess as we go outside as much as possible! More importantly, please label all items (hats, gloves, mittens, coats using a sharpie on the tag) as our lost and found grows especially with cold weather gear. Thank you for your help with this!

Afternoon Bus Reminder
As our routes have become fairly consistent with drop off times in the afternoon, I am sending a reminder that a parent or guardian should be outside at the bus stop to meet their child as they get off the bus. In the event there is no parent or guardian outside to meet their child, the bus company will notify us to make a call home to alert the parent that the bus has arrived. If we are unsuccessful in making the call, the student will be returned to BBES to be picked up by the parent or guardian. Thank you for your cooperation with this important safety measure.

From the Nurse's Office
Screenings will begin at Beaver Brook starting in November and will continue throughout the school year.
Each school year School Nurses in the Abington Public Schools conduct selected health screenings as mandated by the MA Department of Public Health. Here at Beaver Brook Elementary all students in Grades K-2 participate in Vision and Hearing Screening. Grade 1 students will participate in height, weight and BMI as well.
Screenings will be done under the direction and supervision of the School Nurse. You will be notified by the School Health Office in cases where further screening/examination by your health care provider is indicated. We ask that you always have your child’s eyeglasses available as they will be using them in the screening process.
All Parents and Guardians have the right to opt their child out of any of the screenings by submitting a written request (email is acceptable) to the school nurse.
You may contact Renee Brown, school nurse, if you have any additional questions at reneebrown@abingtonps.org.

Student Information Update
As you may know, Abington Public Schools uses Aspen as our student information management system. It is critical for families to update their students’ basic information (address, phone, emergency contact, etc.) when changes occur.
