Arrival at School
Drop-offs
A staff member will open the doors for student entry at 8:45 am. Until the school doors are open, students must remain in the car as it is an active driveway.
Please pull your car up as far as possible in the line and remain in the car as staff members are available to assist students to their entrance door and into the building. Parents should remain in the car to allow for the line continue moving.
Students should exit the passenger side door closest to the building ONCE the vehicle is in the yellow safety zone to ensure they will not be in the active driveway.
Please remain in the drop off line as you exit and follow traffic to Washington Street. Please do not pass cars in the drop off line for safety purposes.
Walkers/Walk-ups:
The playground and drop-off loop are closed to students before school starts. Since the drop-off loop is an active driveway, it is unsafe for students to be walking/running/playing anywhere inside the playground/drop-off gates prior to 9:00am when the gates are closed.
Walker/Walk-up students should wait beyond the playground/drop-off gates/fence until the school doors open for student entry at 8:45 am. We respectfully ask that families remain at the gate and staff members will escort students to their classroom doorways.
Late Arrivals
Parents/caregivers will sign in students in the main office using the front entrance of the school if they arrive after 9:00 am. If gates are closing, or are closed, students must be brought in through the main entrance. Please park in designated spaces in the front of the building as the front driveway is an active bus loop.
School staff will then direct or escort the student from the main office to class.
Dismissal
Bus pick-up and drop-off times will be irregular and on the late side for the first few weeks of school. Please be flexible and patient with the bus driver as everyone learns new routes and routines. An adult must be outside for students to be dropped off – start waiting outside at 3:20 pm until a routine is established.
Adults picking students up a regular dismissal time (3:05) will meet students on the pavement on the playground, lining up at their teacher’s designated cone (noted). Teachers will check IDs and dismiss students one at a time. Adults picking students up must present ID.
Changes to dismissal plans must be communicated to the Main Office (781.982.2185 or bbesoffice@abingtonps.org) as early as possible.) Teachers do not always have time to check their email or Rooms messages during the school day.
Click HERE for detailed drop off and pick up information.
Breakfast & Lunch
Breakfast and lunch will continue to be free for all students!
Breakfast begins at 8:30. Families may drop students off to eat breakfast from the cafeteria at Door B (gym Door) beginning at 8:30 am and sign them in inside the door. Students coming from parent drop-off or bus arrival can go to the cafeteria for breakfast upon arrival at school.
Students will have a choice of a cold, hot, or alternate lunch daily. Menus will be available HERE throughout the school year.
