Great Day for the Fun Run!
We had beautiful weather for our annual fun run, and it was great to see so many families come support our students! Thank you all for supporting our biggest fundraiser of the year for our school! A big thank you to the PTO for putting in tireless hours organizing this event to benefit our students!
BBES Parent/Teacher Conferences: Parent Teacher conferences will be held Thursday, 10/22 from 5:00-7:00 and Friday, 10/23 from 1:00-3:15. These 10-minute conferences are set up to be a brief check in about student progress thus far in the school year. Teachers are always available to schedule conferences requiring a lengthier conversation at any time during the school year. A separate message and link to sign up for a conference slot will be sent out by the middle of next week.
CORI Process Update: The district CORI form has been updated. The updated document is attached to this message and should be used going forward by anyone seeking to complete a CORI check with APS. Requests for CORI's typically come through the main office but wanted you to have the new copy for your reference for upcoming field trips and volunteer opportunities. CORI SORI Form 10.26
Snacks: Students have snack in their classrooms each day. Please send in a snack with your child in their backpack. Thank you!
From the Health Office: Screenings will begin at Beaver Brook starting in November and continue throughout the school year.
Each school year School Nurses in the Abington Public Schools conduct selected health screenings as mandated by the MA Department of Public Health. Here at Beaver Brook Elementary all students in Grades K-2 participate in Vision and Hearing Screening. Grade 1 students will participate in height, weight and BMI as well.
Screenings will be done under the direction and supervision of the School Nurse. You will be notified by the School Health Office in cases where further screening/examination by your health care provider is indicated. We ask that you always have your child’s eyeglasses available as they will be using them in the screening process.
All Parents and Guardians have the right to opt their child out of any of the screenings by submitting a written request (email is acceptable) to the school nurse by October 31st.
Additionally, if your child had a recent physical, please send a copy of the updated physical to the school nurse. Keeping your child’s health records up to date helps ensure that we have the most current information on file and that they are ready for a healthy and successful school year. You can email it to reneebrown@abingtonps.org, send a copy in with your child or have it faxed to me at 781-616-0297. Thank you for your help with this!
Important Student Information Updates: To ensure that our student/family contact information is fully updated annually, we are requesting all families submit an updated emergency contact form. This ensures we have the latest information for our students and families. This process is done through Aspen utilizing your family portal account and directions can be accessed here:

Lost & Found: Our lost and found table is getting full! Please label everything. We go through the lost and found on a regular basis looking for name so that we can get items back to their owners. Students at this age do not always recognize they are missing something - labels helps tremendously. Writing names on Sharpies on tags works great!
