Dear Woodsdale Families,
Welcome to a brand-new school year at Woodsdale School! I hope this letter finds your family enjoying a restful and joyful summer. My name is Melanie Savicke, and I am honored to serve as the principal of Woodsdale this year. Whether you're returning or joining us for the first time, we’re thrilled to partner with you for an exciting year of growth, learning, and community.
As we prepare to welcome back our amazing third and fourth graders, I want to share a few important reminders to help ease the transition back to school. Now is a great time to begin reestablishing bedtime routines, encouraging independent reading, and reviewing basic math facts. A little structure in these final weeks of summer can make a big difference in helping your child start the year confidently and ready to learn.
We’ve been busy this summer preparing our classrooms to make this year memorable and meaningful. Some brief highlights:
• School Day Hours: Our school day begins at 8:40 AM and ends at 2:40 PM. Students may arrive as early as 8:10 AM if they are eating breakfast. Students will not be allowed in the classrooms until 8:25. Please don’t drop off students before then if they are not eating breakfast.
• Communication: Once school gets up and running, you will receive a weekly school update via email. More information will be forthcoming regarding checking and updating your contact information in Aspen.
• Community Building: We’re placing an even greater emphasis this year on kindness, inclusion, and leadership. We will continue our weekly community meetings with the students on Fridays.
We’ll be hosting Popsicles with the Principal and an Open House in August. Keep an eye on your email and our website for details. Also, if you haven’t already, please follow the Woodsdale Facebook page for more information.
