AHS STUDENT ELECTION INFORMATION

Nomination papers are in the Main Office. Submit completed papers to the main office by Monday, September 9.

The High School fitness center and gymnasium will be open starting Tuesday, September 10th 2 to 3 days a week directly after school from 2-3 PM. Dates for the month of September have been posted on the Fitness Center door. All are welcome. Please see Mr. Talbot with any questions

Campaign for offices will take place September 12-16.

Posters: Once your nomination paper has been approved by Assistant Principal Casey, submit a photo of your POSITIVE poster to katecasey@abingtonps.org for approval. Once approved you may display your campaign posters on cafeteria walls.

Campaigning: No food, toys, or other items may be used for campaigning.

Video Speeches: For those running for class offices submitted the video speech to Ms. Casey by Friday, September 13 via SharePoint. Direction will be sent to those who have completed signature pages. Video speeches will be available to view on Monday, September 16.

Elections: Electronic voting is held on September 19.

Results: The results will be announced on September 20.

Any juniors or seniors interested in joining the trip to Costa Rica in April, please attend a brief meeting after school on Thursday, 9/12, in Sra. Ward's room.

All Costa Rica travelers are to meet after school on Thursday, September 12 in Room 2206.

@ AMS cafeteria

Any freshmen or sophomores interested in joining the trip to Puerto Rico in April, please attend a bridge block meeting on Wednesday, 9/18, in Ms. Mahanna's room. Email Ms. Mahanna to sign up or ask your mentor teacher to sign you up.

ACADEMIC CENTER FOR ENRICHMENT (ACE)

The A.C.E. program is back!

The Club meets in room 2205 after school. The program will run from 2:00 – 3:30 p.m. on the dates below. Email or see Mr. Grijalva with any additional questions. Come in and check it out!

Anyone interested in joining the Anti-Bullying Club, sign-ups will take place on: Wednesday, September 18th at 2:05pm in room 2224. Any questions please see Mr. Lanner.

The first meeting of the gender and sexuality alliance will take place on Wednesday, September 18 after school in room 1210. See Mrs. Daisy or Ms. Greene with any questions.

College Fair: The Guidance Department will be taking 90 students to a college fair at Hanover High School on Wednesday 9/25/2024. We will be leaving AHS at 8:00am and be returning around 10:00am. Permission slips are available on Ms. Padilla's desk in Guidance. This is a "first come, first served" field trip and your name will not be added to the list until you have passed in your signed permission slips.

Reminder, this trip is on a WAVE WEEK WEDNESDAY, so if you are planning to attend, you will need to be at school no later than 7:50am.

PSAT

Abington High School will be hosting the PSAT on Saturday, October 12th at 7:30am. The Registration deadline is Friday, September 27th. The exam is open to Juniors and Sophomores. There are 80 exams available and exam registration is on a first come first served basis.

To register for this exam, you only need to complete the payment through the MySchoolBucks' Abington payment portal. Payment for the exam will register your student.

Payment is $18.00 for the exam. Students who are eligible for Free/Reduced Lunch can register for free, however you must still enter credit card information to register, but the card will not be charged.
