MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Woodsdale Families,

Exploring Neurodiversity at Woodsdale

This week, our third and fourth grade students joined Katy Boucher from The Accord School in Norwell for an engaging assembly on neurodiversity.

Students learned how every brain operates differently using Howard Gardner’s Theory of Multiple Intelligences. By watching videos of middle schoolers sharing their own neurodivergent journeys, students reflected on the joys and challenges of learning differently, and the true meaning of empathy and fairness.

Families can Continue the conversation at home and can learn more about Katy’s programs on her website.

MESSAGE FROM THE NURSE

Screenings will begin at Wooddale starting the second week in October and continue throughout the school year.

Each school year, school nurses in Abington public schools conduct selected health screenings as mandated by the MA Department of Public health. Here at Wooddale School, students in grade 3 participate in vision and hearing screenings. Students in grade 4 participate in vision screening, height, weight, and BMI screenings.

Screenings will be done by the school nurse. You will be notified by the school health office in cases where further screening / examination by your health care provider is indicated. We ask that you always have your child's eyeglasses available as they will be using them in the screening process.

All Parents and Guardians have the right to opt their child out of any of the following screenings by submitting a written request to the school nurse.

You may contact Debra Ambrose school nurse if you have any additional questions debraambrose@abingtonps.org
