Faculty Professional Development Agenda - August 26, 2025P-12 certified staff will begin the day with professional development centered on effective communication using Thrillshare Rooms by Apptegy. As our district moves toward a more unified and streamlined approach to family engagement, it is essential that all staff are confident in utilizing this two-way messaging platform to connect with students and families. Click here for more information about Rooms. Rooms provides a clear, consistent, and accessible method for sharing information, fostering stronger school-to-home partnerships, and ensuring every family stays informed and engaged. This training marks the start of our district-wide implementation, and we will continue to build on this work throughout the year and beyond. You will receive a message shortly from the District about Rooms. In the afternoon, staff will report to their schools for the professional development activities noted below:AEEP: AEEP will be reviewing new evaluation tools, refreshing our understandings of IEP responsibilities and content, and continuing with curriculum development.BBES: BBES professional development will focus on planning and designing hands-on, collaborative learning projects that actively engage students in meaningful work. Together, we’ll explore strategies to foster curiosity, problem-solving, and teamwork, allowing students to partner with students in other classrooms as well as their own. The goal is to create rich learning experiences that spark student interest and deepen understanding across subject areas.WES: This year WES staff will collaborate on strategies to integrate Active Learning across all academic areas throughout the school day. Professional development will also emphasize strengthening classroom management skills while providing teachers with structured opportunities to problem-solve and share best practices within their grade-level teams.AMS: AMS will focus on reviewing the school improvement plan and associated work for the 25-26 school year, reviewing updated report card comments and working directly with Rooms based on that day’s training. AHS: Abington High School staff will meet to review how we create and maintain expectations for student behavior and academics. We will also begin reviewing a collaboration and consultancy protocol to address challenges of practice and identify solutions to improve learning outcomes for all students.
