Abington Public Schools is once again participating in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) of the National School Lunch Program. This special provision means that families are no longer required to complete a meal benefit application, and all our students have access to breakfast and lunch at no cost.

Fee waivers for transportation, athletics, and other applicable areas will again primarily be based on Direct Certification for the new school year.

Direct Certification is the process by which school districts certify students who are members of households receiving assistance from SNAP, TANF/TAFDC, or FDPIR, as eligible for free meals without further application. Direct Certification is based on information provided by the state agencies administering these benefit programs.

To apply for Direct Certification, please visit: https://dtaconnect.eohhs.mass.gov/ and apply for benefits. All families who are Direct Certified will be sent a Community Eligibility (CEP) information sharing form in the coming weeks.

Bus applications, which may be found on our website, MUST be completed and submitted for every student who will require transportation in 2026-2027, even if transportation is mandated based on grade level and distance or if the fee is waived based on Direct Certification.

The deadline for all bus applications is July 1.

If you do not qualify for the Direct Certification benefit and are experiencing financial hardship, please complete the district's hardship application to be considered for assistance with district fees. This form can be found on our website in the Transportation section or by clicking here.

This is a reminder that there will be no school for students tomorrow, Tuesday, November 4. While students have the day off, our teachers and staff will be participating in Abington Innovates, professional development dedicated to innovative teaching and learning.

During this event, faculty will take part in a variety of hands-on and collaborative sessions focused on topics such as technology integration, supporting multilingual learners, special education strategies, social-emotional learning, and educator wellness. These workshops are designed to strengthen classroom practices and enhance the learning experiences of all Abington students. We are also extremely grateful for the “Grab and Go” snacks and beverages donated for our faculty—coordinated by the Town-wide PTO and each school’s PTO, and generously provided by our families.
