Dear Families of Incoming Grade 5 through 8 Students:
AMS is happy to provide Summer Learning opportunities for incoming grade 5-8 students. Every student has received an invitation to our online Summer Learning courses on Canvas via their APS email. Students have options for both reading and mathematics activities.
The goal of our summer reading program is to encourage reading for pleasure. We want students to read books based on their interests and have the chance to share books that they enjoyed reading with their classmates in the fall. Students entering grades 5-8 can read a book of their choice and complete a Book Share Form that will be shared with their homerooms or ELA classes during the first week of school. Book Share Forms are available on Canvas. To assist you in finding a great book to read, suggested book lists for each incoming grade are also provided, including books that can be read electronically via SORA. You can choose from these books or choose one of your own.
The goal of our summer math program is to encourage students to practice their math skills and retain the skills they have already learned. Students can either useIXL onlineor print out asummer skills packet. Directions for both IXL and the summer skills packet can be found on Canvas.
We encourage students and families to explore these opportunities to keep learning alive during the summer months.
