March 19, 2025 - Early Release Day
Agenda for APS Staff:
Support Staff will participate in Cybersecurity training. Abington was awarded the opportunity to engage in cybersecurity training through a state grant this year. This training provides APS staff with an opportunity to improve our overall cybersecurity posture as a district, helping to protect our finances and data from malicious cyber attackers. Certified staff will participate in the same training at a later date.
Special Educators and Related Service Providers will join vertical team meetings as noted below, participate in job-a-like groups, or collaborate on aligning programs between schools.
Art Department K-8 – The Art Department will be using the Curriculum Review Rubric and UDL evaluation tools to evaluate the effectiveness of our curriculum and adjusting lesson plans as necessary.
ELE Department K-8 – The K-8 ELE Department will meet to discuss the completion of start-of-the-year ELE activities and ensure all required steps are completed at each building.
Music Department K-8 – The Music Department will be collaborating across grade levels to plan and set key skills for new classroom music, instrumental, choral students in each building. Staff will be discussing transitions from grades 4 to 5, 6 to 7, and 8 to 9. Staff will also be reviewing grading policies, winter concert planning, and curriculum development.
Wellness Department K-8 – The K-8 Wellness Department will continue to write curriculum that aligns with the 2023 DESE Health and PE standards.
AHS – Abington High School staff will be reviewing and utilizing the Consultancy problem solving protocol to identify and address dilemmas and challenges of practice they experience with teaching and learning. Additionally, staff will participate in cyber security training and follow up training on expectations for student behavior.
AEEP, BBES, WES, AMS and AHS - PreK-9 vertical teams of teachers will examine the transition between grade levels and schools with the goal of sending/receiving teachers coming to consensus on how to support students/families through grade/school transitions. Data gathered from these meetings will be used to align the ways students and families are supported as they transition through the APS system.
