MCAS Family Portal

Dear Families,

Every fall, we provide families with their child's spring MCAS report as provided to Abington Public Schools by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). These reports include results from the Next-Generation MCAS assessments administered in English Language Arts and Mathematics in grades 3-8 and high school, as well as Science assessments in grades 5, 8, and high school.

MCAS Family Portal

This year, DESE has launched the MCAS Family Portal, which provides families with online access to their student's individual MCAS results. The portal includes spring 2026 results, as well as available results from previous years. Families can access the portal at:

https://mcasfamilyportal.emetric.net. To access your child's results, you will need your child's Portal Registration Number (PRN), along with other identifying information.

On Friday, August 28, 2026, Abington Public Schools will send an email from "DESEletter@abingtonps.org" containing your child's Portal Registration Number and instructions for accessing the MCAS Family Portal. Please be on the lookout for this email and be sure to check your spam, junk, and other filtered email folders if you do not see it in your inbox. If you have not received the email by the end of the day on August 28, please contact your child's school for assistance.

Understanding MCAS Results

On the Next-Generation MCAS, the four achievement levels are:

  • Exceeding Expectations

  • Meeting Expectations

  • Partially Meeting Expectations

  • Not Meeting Expectations

These categories are intended to provide families and educators with information about a student's readiness for the next grade level.

When reviewing your child's results, please keep in mind that:

  • MCAS results represent one measure of student learning, at one period of time.

  • Teachers use multiple sources of information to understand each student's strengths and needs and to provide appropriate instructional support.

  • The district uses MCAS data, along with other measures, to strengthen curriculum, instruction, and student support systems.

Massachusetts continues to maintain one of the highest-performing public education systems in the nation, and MCAS serves as one tool to help students, families, and educators better understand student progress and learning. To learn more about MCAS, visit:

Accountability Information

Massachusetts' accountability system considers multiple measures of school and district performance, including:

  • Student achievement

  • Student growth

  • High school completion

  • English learner progress

  • Chronic absenteeism

  • Advanced coursework

This comprehensive approach provides a broader picture of school and district performance than MCAS results alone.
