The Town-wide PTO Deirdre Volunteer Service Award 2026
The Deirdre Volunteer Service Award was founded in the loving memory of a devoted Abington Public Schools volunteer. Deirdre devoted many hours to Abington and its school community to champion inclusion, expand programming, and improve childhood education. She was a constant presence at PTO and School Committee meetings, where she advocated passionately for full-day kindergarten and many other programs and activities that benefited Abington students. Her legacy will lives on through this volunteer service award.
The Deirdre Volunteer Service Award will be presented to a caregiver annually for their voluntary participation in service activities that help improve both the Abington Public Schools and its community in ways that emulate Deirdre's dedication. Examples of this type of dedication include
· event creation or organization
· fundraising (creation, execution, organization)
· advocating for educational initiatives, school funding, or programming

SEPAC presents Community Resources Night on November 5, 2025! This event is designed to support families and caregivers by providing information about various community resources - including music therapy, inclusive sports, state agencies and how to find an advocate. If you are the parent or guardian of a student with special education needs, we are here to support you! All meetings begin at 6:30 pm in the AMHS Library, 201 Gliniewicz Way, Abington MA.

This is a reminder that there will be no school for students tomorrow, Tuesday, November 4. While students have the day off, our teachers and staff will be participating in Abington Innovates, professional development dedicated to innovative teaching and learning.
During this event, faculty will take part in a variety of hands-on and collaborative sessions focused on topics such as technology integration, supporting multilingual learners, special education strategies, social-emotional learning, and educator wellness. These workshops are designed to strengthen classroom practices and enhance the learning experiences of all Abington students. We are also extremely grateful for the “Grab and Go” snacks and beverages donated for our faculty—coordinated by the Town-wide PTO and each school’s PTO, and generously provided by our families.
